Ma:nyo Blackhead Pure Cleansing Oil Kill Pad

Ingredient analysis and how the ad lines read

What is this product?

Buy Ma:nyo Blackhead Pure Cleansing Oil Kill Pad for the blackheads, not for the word oil on the tub: the first five entries of its own 58-ingredient list are water, an ester, soybean oil, an emulsifier and glycerine, so each of the 50 pads is a water-based emulsion wipe rather than a cleansing oil. It works hard for a wipe, with eleven plant oils at positions 3 and 7 through 16, four surfactants at 4, 6, 47 and 50, and four acids at 34, 38, 48 and 49 running from a mild PHA up to salicylic acid, none of them at a disclosed amount.

What makes it different?

The thing to weigh against it is the fragrance. The page promises no essential oils while its own list prints three flower oils, rose, ylang ylang and geranium, at 54 through 56, with their declared fragrance allergens at 57 and 58. However strong the blackhead feedback is, that makes it a poor default for reactive or sensitive skin. The embossed abrasive side also stacks physical scrubbing on top of those acids, all of it in a wipe that lasts tens of seconds.

Ingredients with no mark are ones we found nothing notable about, and when marks overlap on one ingredient we show the caution first.

Did the ad claims hold up?

We checked 9 lines this product advertises against the ingredient list and public documents. One of them holds up. The rest are only partly right or have nothing behind them.

backed by evidence1

  • Take out a pad and gently roll it over your skin with the embossed side, following your skin's texture. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. For stubborn blackheads, use the embossed side of the pad to roll intensively for about 10 seconds. Lightly wet the pad with water to wipe them off, then rinse with lukewarm water. If the content gets into your eyes, wash it immediately as it may sting.
