Reviews call jojoba oil a good moisturizer and a useful ingredient for the outermost layer of skin. These are conclusions drawn from reading the published work rather than measurements, and one of the reviews asks for more data itself.
Not a trial. Two reviews that read the published work on plant oils and summed it up.
Jojoba oil is described as an excellent moisturizer and conditioner among plant based cosmetic oils, and the plant oil review concludes jojoba is an effective skin care ingredient for stratum corneum integrity, recovery and lipid ratio.

It isn't shown to match your skin's own oil.
No study here compared jojoba with the oil skin makes for itself, so the resemblance is neither shown nor ruled out.
No comparison of the two compositions exists in this set, only descriptions of what jojoba is made of.

A 56 day clinical study in 46 individuals found a statistically significant increase in collagen fluorescence by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy at days 28 and 56 versus baseline and placebo cream, using 1.0% of a Lactobacillus ferment of jojoba cake.
Lab and related-material results
A jojoba derivative, not the seed oil, cuts water loss when added to glycerin.
Adding a jojoba derived ingredient to glycerol left less water escaping from skin than glycerol alone, at 8 and 24 hours. The tested material was not the seed oil but a broken down jojoba ester.
A small first pass study on lower leg skin, which its own authors call a proof of concept.
In a pilot study on lower leg skin, formulations containing 3.75% glycerol plus 1.25% hydrolyzed jojoba esters (K-20W) gave significantly lower TEWL than glycerol alone in a standard base lotion at 8 and 24 hours post treatment (P less than 0.05).
