What is this product?

Bioheal BOH's NAD Freeze Cell Retinal Eye Cream prints the amount of both ingredients in its name, and those two numbers are the reason to think twice about it: retinal at 10ppm is 0.001 percent, roughly 50 to 100 times below the 0.05 to 0.1 percent range retinaldehyde's published work used, and NAD sits at 109ppm. What it actually delivers is a well built barrier cream, with niacinamide seventh of 67 ingredients, ceramide NP alongside cholesterol and three fatty acids, and six peptides through the back third. Anyone pregnant should avoid it regardless of the amount, because retinal is a retinoid and topical retinoids sit on the standard obstetric avoid lists.

What makes it different?

Printing 10ppm against the retinal in its own product name is unusually candid, because the figure undercuts the name it is attached to. The barrier side is where the formula is real: ceramide NP with cholesterol plus stearic, behenic and oleic acids gives the full lipid triad rather than ceramides alone. Six peptides run through the back third, among them acetyl hexapeptide-8, palmitoyl pentapeptide-5 and tripeptide-10 citrulline. It comes in 25mL, and across all 67 ingredients there is no fragrance compound, no essential oil and no declared fragrance allergen.
